The Euro, the True Story...

Right, now Labour are going to start with it was Gordon who kept us out of the Euro, so he really is a smart man after all, but no one is going to dig any deeper than that, so I will explain it.

Labour came in in 97, the Euro was in 2002. Now anyone with the smallest of brains know that the British people would vote out the government that makes them change something on such a large scale. TB and GB still had not really sorted out who was going to take over and when.

So it was impossible to sign up to the Euro until Labour had a second win under their belts, they needed to bed in, to become the party that could, so it was decided to come up with whatever BS possible to not join the Euro.

This pissed off the Euro brethren who then told us that we had to pass the next treaty without rocking the boat, which was done, those in charge in  Europe really needed the strength of the pound to make a go of it, had we been in it, this problem that we are in now with Greece would have been put off for another 3 years or so.

Gordo wanted Tony out after the second election, so he could jump into the Euro, and be the man in charge of the entire project.

Because Tony would not step down, Gordo wouldn't let us go into the Euro (I am sure we remember Tony saying how great it is, and Gordo saying No)

The only reason was, Tony didn't do what Gordo wanted, and thus Gordo wouldn't do what Tony wanted.

If you manage to get Tony in a quiet room he will explain to you that, not going into the Euro cost him the presidency of Europe, he figures he would have had the top job.

Gordo is not Hero, he is a spiteful person and the only motive he had was pissing off Tony, not saving the country.
