I loved this. Apparently we have more Graduates in the police force than ever before, now if you step back a little bit, and think about it...
We are forcing (We have made people believe that it is the best thing for them) more and more people to go to University and thus we will have more people coming out of University, and thus we will have more Graduates.
The above stands to reason doesn't it? The more meat you put in the grinder the more mince meat you get out, anyone can understand that.
So, how many people are studying Law, or Police related Graduate courses, not many I wager.
The police that I have met, in general have been pretty good, not outstanding by any stretch, but good enough to do their job, they talk to the public well etc, but in each case it was not about a crime, I would be willing to bet that had it been about a crime that first of all I would never have met them, and second upon appearing, they would be desperate to get away.

We have been dumbing down tests and exams for years. I see people of a daily basis who can not calculate change without what it tells them on a screen. I always know what change to expect, and the number of coins, what the will or should be etc, watch your local supermarket, if you give them change, so it makes things rounded, they don't understand how it works, it is a laugh to do it, they don't understand you want 1 pound back, a two pound coin back, they just can not work it out.
The police are, over trained, first in health and safety, and second in paper work.
I think we should stop calling it a service, and start calling it a force again.
